During our vidchat last Friday someone asked about the Goldberg variations (and Glenn Gould of course), and my response was that if one really wanted to hear the Goldberg variations as JS Bach heard (and published) one should hear them on a keyboard with at least two manuals (as the published version states), that is to say, NOT on a piano, but on a harpsichord or pipe organ.
