I have started doing grocery deliveries, during COVID and noticed that too. declining frequency of high paying orders, base pay decline if a customer tips more, etc.
Most people who do this line of work are bad at math, although, its verry simple, at least for me, If it doesn’t pay $2 per mile, I won’t do it, because gas and vehicle upkeep is the single largest expense.
A programmer friend told me thats an algorythm they use in online games too, its called “EOA” Engagement Oriented Algorythm, to keep players hooked,
simply speaking, its win, loss, loss, win, loss, loss, win, system whre the dopamine of a single winning game carries the gamer through two losses and so on. And when the Co. wants more money, they increase the losing streak, to make players buy ingame perks , believing their luck will increase.
Anybody here ever watch the movie “Idiocracy” ?, where people in the hospital waiting room could win medical care on slot machines. Its the same concept.

I left the corporate structured work world in 2012 to manage a privately owned RV park for retired baby boomers. Best situation and enjoyable position of my work career. Had to solve everyday operation issues and provide a positive environment. It’s good to be the boss!
