I wondered about this a long time and have attached one of my maps from 2021, which is accurate in some ways and not so in others, maybe, IDK. The Tumen River theory is NOT my original theory but I did expand upon it. (I’m looking for my more detailed map & will post when I find it.) I have never been to The Kurils but Sakhalin Island is disputedly part of that chain and I have been there twice.
