NASA launched four Viking spacecraft in 1976 toward the Red Planet. Their destination was an area called Cydonia. As they flew by, the Viking orbiter’s cameras revealed a large hill resembling a human face 1.5 miles long, 1,500 feet high, and 1.2 miles wide. NASA downplayed it as a “trick of light”—that is, until the feature was again imaged, this time with a different sun angle, thirty-five days later. Researchers now say that this was an artificially constructed building intended to symbolize a face staring up from the surface of Mars, thereby intimating the likelihood that other anomalies on Mars were artificially constructed. These include “pyramidal” objects in images to the west of the face, as well as a five-hundred-foot mound constructed with a peripheral groove or ditch and spiral pathway…
