They have been pushing the blue marble since the 1600’s and thought they had gotten away with it. It did not occur to them that people in AirPLANES would GET IT. I know I did because of my training and it took watching a video about the possibility that made me slap my forehead and say DUH! Until then, I was with everyone else saying… “how stupid is THAT conspiracy”.
Curiously I am currently reading a book about the preDarwinian days regarding the espousal of how evolution theory flip flopped the then current image of man from the top of the hierarchy in the universe to essentially a pea in a pod of the cosmos. Religion (faith) was removed from the equation leaving only reason and the scientific method to explain the nature of man. The author claims both are needed as neither reason or faith alone can explain our nature. If the scientific community can create that paradigm and make everyone adhere to it, making up a blue marble myth is nothing, especially since we personally don’t have access to see the space above, only the hearsay.
i lost the history to the ground in the moment one got flatly drunk. and we saw 2 moons (in the second row only…)
well it is a quite a liberal forum, so sobers and not sees (-ing the curvature) are equally welcome.
unto the non-believers of flatlining our beautiful spicy orange: artillery and rocket-science will remain our loyal and trusted hound through the ignorant ages of strife and blood. in the peacetime, let the children play with elephants and turtles. their daily menu consists of ABC-soup and puberty-blockers.
