Forget about knowing both sides of a statement….
White House stenographers, aka, journalists; need to be objective.
As do their CIA editors.
A CIA/White House harmonized press choir, is a must.
Objectively, or not - as long as the sing in harmony.
Yes how else to keep the narrative “pure”.
It was never objective, even before Regan got rid of the fairness doctrine. Nobody can truly escape their own perspective.
The remedy for this problem is an educated population, who takes their news from many different sources, with differing points of view and interests…which is why I read Zero Hedge, RT, The Intercept, Natural News, etc, as well as the old media and as much of the social media as I can take.
As the use of AI increases to write “objective” news using a data base culled from what has already been written, even objective news looses meaningful significance.
I think the interesting variable in the AI business is what humans are willing to accept, which is basically the same problem the media has always had.
AI will be forced to report or write a lot of it straight, because the last thing they want is people losing faith in the system overall, just like so many people have already lost faith in media and other institutions.
Anything written in the English language is obviously completely subjective to the perspective of England and the English.
Depends on who or what generates and inputs the query. Perfect way to produce results needed or wanted for articles or reports.
They control the menu
to control the choices
The News we read is no longer real, so much AI.
The irony is, it doesn’t seem to make a difference one way or another when propaganda seems to be the main product.
Russia did it!
All an obvious ap.
Yet, even when caught red-handed; nothings is done,
but to mainstream it, under the establishment’s complacent rug.
And keep the “Russians did it!” meme going on, & on, &on, &…
fra 1980
… OMG … when did this happen? I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.
lol… same here… I grew up with those paragons of objectivity and trustworthiness, Walter Cronkite (and let’s give his surname the appropriate German spelling, Krankheit) and Huntley/Brinkley. Yup…they were objective. Not a drop of propaganda in them. (cough hack wheeze).
I’m probably older than all of you and the propaganda has always been with us.
Oh yeah. “No longer objective” is way too little, way too late; but it’s always been that way…
Well Walter did receive most of his formal education in Texas which was a great way to learn how to spin a yarn.
Hence the pointing out of “from 1980”…Its not exactly shock value.
