Wow good to know don’t need a passport to travel there from the U.S.!
Luckily have finally found expired passport got to renew that.
Are there immigration/customs officers at the borders between this and the rest of London?
The Canadian equivialent to this is Point Roberts, connected to mainland Canada but is U.S. territory, short sailing from there to the U.S. city of Bellingham which is the closest major seaport besides Vancouver and Seattle/Tacoma.
As far as I know, they are fished out of the sea, driven to hotels and given benefits. No idea how, if or when immigration control comes into play.
What, the English fish even Americans now!?
Swim in the Thames is probably better than going through customs at Gatwick, if they have questions for you there you’ve got to wait in a little glass box where they interrogate suspicious travelers. That whole airport is a dive, hope can fly to Heathrow one day instead that is the more fancy airport closer to downtown London.
Missed a flight out of Gatwick once because didn’t realize train from London to there goes really really slow over an hour to go relatively short distance at about 30 mph. Thought would have plenty of time after departing night train from Edinburgh to be at the airport for flight but no, lost 400 quid to pay for a new flight out!
