The Pagan Statue That Replaced The Robert E. Lee Statue In New Orleans » Sons

I guess it was too much to ask to replace it with something from the history of Louisiana or New Orleans?? Assuming there was any reason to take it down in the first place. I’m originally a Northerner and still don’t understand how monuments recalling the Confederacy can be inherently and by definition racist. The Confederacy – whether you love it, hate it, or don’t care – is part of U.S. history. Anyway, as many Americans are unaware, the Civil War was mostly about states’ rights and economic power; as far as I can tell, it wasn’t some kind of racial crusade. Nor did most Northerners at the time have much more regard for black people than most Southerners did. Is the goal to erase U.S. history? (I won’t even comment on the hideous piece of “art” they put in its place.)
