You may have heard it. Burning a candle is the same as burning animals before the altar of “God” or “Gods”. Only in this case, burning a candle is a bloodless sacrifice to a “God” or “Gods” well at least in Orthodox Christianity. Which is quite civilized but still a sacrifice on your part to “God” or “Gods” nonetheless.
There are two important things here.
- Bloodshed, or its civilized replacement with red wine in all rituals
- Burning of the slaughtered victim, that is, in a civilized form, burning a candle
- Various ways of using the oil or ointment in different rituals from removing it, to burning to anointing.
- And of course, the use of wheat in a thermally processed form, i.e. boiled, or as thermally processed forms of it such as unleavened bread, or ordinary bread, of course burnt, i.e. baked.
Always a sacrifice, because of a request for something, because of guilt or because of a previous debt to some Entities. Always to this day.And continuing, and to be or not to be continued
