According to the Guinness World Records the Philippines has the longest Christmas celebrations in the world . Puerto Rico has the second place. In Puerto Rico Christmas starts on September. Why? Because the local furniture store says so. The store always put the Christmas tree after Labor day, signaling people to get ready. Christmas ends on February 2nd. The celebration is called āLa Candelariaā. People burn their Christmas trees signaling the new season. In the video the Pastor of a local church explains it much better.
Wish we had Orthodox Churches in Puerto Rico. I think the Orthodox church would grow very fast because people are looking for traditional worship, which is lacking in many churches. There is only one Orthodox Church in Puerto Rico, in the town of San German.
