Spain: US aircraft leave Spain after government says bases cannot be used for Iran attacks
… lets see … this is the place that just admitted 500,000 criminal illegals … not sure I’d want to be there in any capacity.

AND, then some…

Theologically he owns the world.
…oh, you mean like bankers.
I guess you only live twice so.
Many years ago I was at a wedding reception and happened to be seated next to a German woman. We had decent conversation for some time until it turned to the US foreign policy. I am a veteran of the USN and have been around, never REALLY saw combat but was involved in some lower level issues in the late 1980’s. Involved meaning I was there, not that I had any influence. I was just a worker bee. Anyway, I let her say her peace and eventually she got comfortable and began to lambast the United States. I eventually just said, “hey, if you dislike the United States so much and what we do, then why do you keep agreeing to having our troops permanently based in your country?” She said, “Oh, you can’t leave Germany, the Russians will take us over quickly!” Quite matter of fact in the way she said it. I then added, “nor will your nation be able to afford its false social welfare system.” That ended the short lived friendship immediately. Anyway, Spain in particular deserves zero protection or assistance from the United States and I hope that we abandon them as well as England and whoever else “hates” the United States.
Free healthcare and free university classes will end within a couple of years in those places.
I’m Irish, and we are neutral (sort of). US aircraft weapons and troop transports land in Ireland for refueling ever since WW2. NATO started out as a defence structure and force, but it has morphed into a Deep State offensive tool for the larger NATO members (and various global Deep State interests) as it has lost its original function and purpose.
So NATO is not perceived in Ireland as any security asset but proximal threat. We know that Russia has no intention of invading Western Europe, let alone little ole Ireland. They are simply defending their sovereignty and existence, which NATO has been undermining ever since 1989 and the fall of the Berlin Wall/Unification of Germany.
The Irish mindset is probably somewhat different to rest of EU, though our puppet politicians give a lie to the actual Irish people’s position. We are the only European country which as been colonised by another Western nation, which took 600 years to shake off. But there was resistance all the time and rebellions pretty much in each generation. We are still only a couple of generations from finally securing our independence. Don’t want to have to do that again, but most would do if invaded another time by anyone.
The mood in Ireland and Irish people, which is assiduously ignored by our local EU Commission branch managers, is that we should become like Switzerland, hard, to take militarily, and a nightmare to hold if invaded (we know how to do this as have done this before).
Investment has now been increased hugely into the Irish defence forces and the nation ( 68% or so) agrees to the make this spend but ONLY to harden the protection of our neutrality. Most now would not resist leaving the EU for an EFTA trading arrangement as we have been net contributors to EU for a decade or more and seeing how the EU Commission is corrupt, disinterested, danger to our borders and our natural resources.
Realistically, we will never be invaded by Russia (nor will the rest of Europe - that is the mistake of fighting WW2/Cold War mentality) but would more likely be nuked by both Russia and the USA in the event of a global nuclear exchange. So while I, like most Irish, have many first and second cousins as US relatives, out of the circa 40 million Irish/American diaspora now, and notwithstanding btw have fought and received in excess of 2400 Medals of Honour Awards since the Civil War, (I think more than half of total such awards) and yes we are fully aware that the USA will nuke “allies” and “friendlies” in Europe to deny facilities to Russia and also European economies who possibly may survive to compete with USA after such an event. This is US geopolitical and nuclear doctrine, as evidenced recently by destruction of Nordstream 2 pipeline and sanctions etc which has accelerated the decline of the EU area economies, particularly the German economy which has essentially been wrecked. So that is the expectation. Russia would likely nuke Irish airports, communications and sea ports plus UK military logistics and bases in the rump UK comprising the six counties in the North of Ireland.
Therefore NATO (with US in or not) is less a defensive asset and more an existential liability. Recalling the original intent for NATO and US forces in Europe, was to keep the SOVIET Russia out, US ensconced in Europe and to keep Germany down and in control. (I don’t disagree with latter given the rush of blood to Herr Mertz’s head
). But in my view France and Israel are and have been probably the biggest risk to European and world peace for many decades. I think there is some degree of regret in Ireland that we taught Israel asymmetric warfare and how to shake off the British Empire as well.
The NATO mission was added to for the many and various military adventures since WW2 and the increases radius of control undertaken by US and UK/EU Deep States since 9/11. …Ireland has since and more recently realised that it will be looking to its own defences, in an “Ireland First” way.
So I would say to the current US administration, please save yourselves the headache, the money, the logistics, the troops and potentially their as they may be used in NATO conflicts and have them decamp back to US territories. Then let’s all have a party to celebrate the retirement of NATO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNHxO_5W0y0&list=PLpMF5vjQ70pJugMx-AW9FRtUOD0wv2tDC&index=10
