It would be difficult to convince me that the nuclear powered boring machines did not exist as
described and in some numbers. Having read articles about these for many decades including allusions to countless government patents citing the distance though various types of rock, etc…
There’s every chance they not only exist but have been in use for quite a while. The patents suggested an average travel of 6 miles per day. As mentioned, the walls were thick and completely vitrified. Made perfect for vacuum-sealed high speed mag-lev trains etc.
