The West’s Struggle for Mental Health -- Rates of functional mental illness are high in open societies and low in authoritarian ones

Well, since “open society” is code for neo-liberal new world order clown world society, I would agree. “Authoritarian” is code for sovereign nation.

The satanic society we live in intentionally breeds and fosters mental illness in the people to create a more dependant and culturally degenerate state.

I would encourage people to skim through the DSM and look at the various diagnostic criteria for mental illnesses. Literally everyone could be diagnosed with one or more mental illnesses. It’s a load of crap.

I have no doubt that, I myself, would be diagnosed with unipolar depression, ADHD, and some level of autism. I guess that means I have to be medicated right? I’ve gotta get on anti-depressants and amphetamines. Being miserable when you live in a collapsing civilization and you deal with adversity in life would make sense. Being bored or uninterested when you are surrounded by unquestioning superficial people, and are inundated with mind numbing trash by all media should be expected. Not being able to sit and have conversation about absolutely nothing is not a mental illness.

Sorry for the rant. This whole topic of mental illness as identity rubs me the wrong way. Mass mental illness is a sign of a sick society and not a freer, moral and open society.

@Spacespeare I couldn’t agree with you more. I saw a lot as an office manager for an out-patient behavioral health (private) organization for nine years.

Big business back then and even bigger business now. I cringe thinking about those days. Come to think of it, I cringe on a daily basis now a days.

@peter.s.james Sorry but I couldn’t watch the whole video. What a crock of BS IMO. I’m done with the “mental health” virtual signaling.

I hear “mental health” and it iis fingernails on the chalkboard. From the time I was in junior high and first understood what “psychiatrist” meant (my parents considered themselves to be real doctors, not so the shrinks) to getting to study the basics (psych 101 etc) and meet both the expert and the patients, the people who would make the determination of mental health for people are the ones I personally would grade around a 2 out of 10 being totally sane. The LAST thing I want to do is give the more POWER. Putting you in a ward they pick is serious and can be a death sentence.

So I guess the barely veiled message of the headline is “democracy bad, tyranny good”?

I don’t buy for a moment that people under authoritarian rule are any more sane than anyone else… Andrew Lobaczewski, of Political Ponerology fame, was a former inhabitant of communist Poland, which basically served as his case study.

In Western societies today, mental (and physical) illnesses are over-diagnosed and over-treated. I’ve personally known a few people who’ve benefited from mainstream psych treatment, and I’ve come across a much larger number who, I’m convinced, are medicated for no good reason at all. The number of kids on Adderall, for example, is nothing short of astonishing. But hey, gotta keep those pharma stock values up!

Now, if you asked me whether I think Western civilization as a whole has become collectively insane, I’d have to answer yes.
