Fact is, we do NOT know who many of these people are; namely whose side they’re on (in addition to their own side).
Regarding time travel, it’s an open but I do not believe it’s related to this in particular.

That’s the entire problem, isn’t it??? None of us Normies can get a grasp on what is going on around us!! 
My conclusion is that there is more than two "sides’ & who’s to say how many?! I AM getting a larger picture on things by reading the life story of the scientist who spent 40 yrs in the Black Programs. He left his Journals to Sean D. Morton. I’m only into Book 2; but it is very interesting!
