These SOB’s built a nest in a peat moss bale that had sat behind our horse trailer and when we were hooking up to move horses we eventually got their attention. They followed us to the front of the truck, past a three horse trailer and a long bed pickup and stung us several times. I am SEVERELY allergic (could use the antigen he talks about) and even with Benadryl it took over a week for the swelling to go out of my hand and legs. Makes me sick at my stomach just looking at them on a video!
Like anyone saying, “I’m not allergic to scorpion stings”.
I had to quit putting grape jam out for the finches because the hornets took over the feeder. They’re not to be messed with. My husband got stung.
They are the only hornet who is a pollinator! They do some good!
They eat insects, go after my honeybees on the flowers. Thank goodness the honeybee is too big but that’s how they pollinate going flower to flower hunting insects!
I’ve known they’re predatory toward other insects. I just haven’t noticed a difference in the reduction of the insects I want to get rid of.
