Last year, after a visit to my doctor, who is a provider in a complex system, I read her notes. The notes indicated I’d given permission for something I’d not even been asked. Now my doctor is in a single office unconnected to any system. Even to fill a prescription one must hand carry it to the pharmacy.

I remember back in the day before a computer was a part of a medical office. The doctor hand wrote on a RX pad the prescribed medicine the pharmacist was to give the patient. The patient or their family member took the piece of paper to the pharmacy and exchanged it for the medication.
Now the doctor has a computer in his office and asks the patient which pharmacy they use and sends the RX to them for the patient to pick up in a few hours. No more calling the doctor’s office to verify the scribbled handwritten RX.

In my county They are actively removing private practise doctors with insurance tactics, fees, rent, etc etc.
The 2 BORGS around here are a 'nonprofit ’ corporation who used to be tied to the University, but split off into a corp. and another giant one who are all about profit.
