Apropos of today’s main blog, in Austria there is a movement for a constitutional amendment to guarantee the use of cash: FPÖ’s Kickl Calls for Constitutional Guarantee of Cash in Austria

I have been using cash for purchases whenever possible since CAF mentioned the reason and advocated the use. Last week I was dining out with a few friends who have in the past whipped out their debit or credit card to pay their tab. All of them used cash to pay the tab. It works.

“Cash is more than a means of payment.
It is a piece of lived freedom, it protects our privacy, and it guarantees self-determination.” !

I don’t care what percentage of cash the merchant deposits in his bank account.

As long as they accept cash; I’ll shop there.
Otherwise; color me gone.

Whenever I made a deposit that included cash for a business I managed, the bank required my ID as per their anti-money laundering policy. We’re talking typically under $1,000 cash mixed with checks. Yeah, possibly a big time criminal enterprise. :joy:

Rebellion is needed.
The first step is to advise people to step out of their comfort zone.
For example,…working from home,…paying bills online from home…effortlessly.
Resistance needs to be initiated…

Using analog telephone technology…landlines wired communications only when possible…
Consider why such technology and exclusively such analog technology is used in spaceship in the movies “Battlestar Galactica” the series…etc.
Think about what the message, the suggestion of those movies is…and why 3iATLAS contains such a large amount of nickel and iron…etc , and yet has interactions with the Sun…let that sink in…
And how ‘god’ is represented also in those films…doing what, togheter with the beautyfull female representative of “A.I.” …i.e.the “woman in red”…also in “Matrix”…mouvies…etc…

There is an EU wide move to statutorily/constitutionally protect cash which was absent some months back. However, what happens if ECB withdraws licence to print the cash?

The younger generations seem all in on not using cash in fact may consider it an inconvenience. I presented a $100 bill to a cashier at a restaurant along with two single dollar bills and the exact change so as to receive $50 back in exchange. I had to point out the two dollar bills after she rang up the sale and tried to give back $48 instead of the intended $50. When I jokingly mentioned how difficult cash was she said, “Yeah, tapping using a her cell phone was much easier.” :see_no_evil: I didn’t give her the spiel about the consequences…

I generally make the pitch; when I deem it necessary.
When I do, there are many ears within my sound range.
Ocassionally, a discussion ensues…

BUT, as implied; talking to “flat earthers”; is a waste of energy.
WE"VE ALL been-there, and flat-out-done that.!

With too many :wasted experience$", you begin to read their FLAT $ignature$.
One is: “they” can’t ADD worth a damn; without a damn calculator!
A Damnation!

I liked this quote.
It brought up this article.

Look cash was GROWING in 2019 globally, but then what happened in March or thereabouts of 2020??!!

Cash is a public good that guarantees ease of use, accessibility, privacy, and many other unique qualities in local, national, and global monetary systems.

Cash is public – the only form of money not controlled by a private, profit-driven entity. Once in circulation, it is the only form of payment independent of its issuer.

Cash enables personal freedom and self-determination – state-issued physical cash is a distributed public infrastructure that allows citizens and users to create a space outside the state

The materiality of cash is vital to many social practices

Ireland has formally switched on one of Europe’s strongest protections for cash. From this week, financial institutions are legally required to ensure that every community has an ATM or cash service point within 10km.

Hopefully there is a big move in USA
I use cash for recreational spending less than 50. But we get the groceries with debit card

Grocery shopping these days requires a few hundred dollar bills in your wallet, in high crime rate environment not a good idea. My bank ATM cash option dispenses $100 bills in cash back requests. Otherwise carrying a wad of twenty dollar bills is cumbersome and bulky. Prior to 2020 I used twenty dollar bills with no problem!

if i dont use my credit union network with no fee, then the fees are ridiculous. you get charged twice!
$3 for the atm fee itself then another $3 from the business ‘renting/sponsoring’ the ATM machine!
so you have to get at least $100 to make it worth it

Yes I ran into that problem when I had a credit union bank account. But the credit union was in the lobby of the building I worked. Their work around was to bring the ATM receipts to them showing the charges and they would credit your account. Guess yours is not conveniently close.

I generally do cash everywhere.
Only Amazon, and/or once-in-a-blue-moon web site.

This morning I went to Denny’s
Did the cash-and-dialogue dance.
The young clerk was ALL-IN, and talking techno-trash.
She was a good looker, and replied w/my rapid-fire dialogue…
RIGHT BACK!
I was genuinely surprised; she picked-it-up so fast!

Not really no, the closest one is at a 7-Eleven and I use it again now but for a time the cards were being skimmed!
