Apropos of today’s main blog, E.E. sent along this article (with our gratitude). “Enjoy”, and by the way, in case you did not notice, another think that Musk’s Doge is doing is it is demonstrating that there is no longer any need for thousands of bureaucrats to do the job a few programmers can do… The…

It is not often one reads a story where government works for the people;
smartly & steadfastly.
I kept thinking, is this real?
Still, I have my reservations.
But conversely; they’ve just barely touched the tip of an iceberg, rivaling all bergs?

When I ask my friends what wrong has occurred in the executive mapping, auditing and repairing of archaic systems, the furious but muddled response seems to be “19 year old people are making decisions about the government.”

…There was a debate in approximately 2001 in the government about whether ‘contractors’ should be allowed to manage information systems. This was a big and all out win for contractors in the computer :desktop_computer: information system business. It is referred to as ‘O&M’ operations and maintenance. Government employees are handmaidens.

Contractors prefer to stick with the proprietary deployed system and designing a new system tends to be a bridge too far so the government frequently has outdated systems.

Closed systems became a mechanism to protect and control information, this became a culture.

Though I thought of doing this type of audit while a swamper, I did not see this one coming. In hindsight you can see the moves.

I don’t see how the opposition wins the treasury payment fight. An executive should have authority to audit. The issue is the status of the reports. The executive is in charge of the content of the reports.

… when the privileged class got huffy about having to show up at work, that pretty much sealed their fate.

Once you understand what they are uncovering you’ll understand the need for this to be done. Decades of corruption, mismanagement, waste and straight up missing funds. However, with that being said, who and what else is piggy backing, or should i say burrowing in also? The first part is crucial though, don’t get me wrong.

What is this prepare the way for in the future? Hopefully a streamlined government bureaucracy, but i’m willing to suggest that’s not what makes to us in fully delivered form.

@MaJonesNedreck That piggy back thing is what worries me but I am to the point…bring it on all the corruption exposure. At least I’ll get a little “joy” from that.
