To Those in Texas Enduring Drought, Are You Currently Getting Rain?

SE TX from Houston to Huntsville FINALLY getting rain. Too late to save most crops & building foundations, but, rain is here.

Anyone else? Please chime in.

Still not an appreciable amount but dribbles of rain in SC TX are much appreciated if nothing more than to increase the humidity. We have had about .12 inches (I have a scientific rain gauge, heh) but we are expecting more. It was nearly impossible to put enough water on plants to keep leaf turgidity due to the incredible heat and aridity. They have predicted possible flooding and being at the top of the hill, BRING IT ON!

I hope you sisters & brothers out there get what you need & enough for storage, just not a flood! Typical Texas; when it rains, it pours…

Pretty sure there are websites that track where the rain falls. Weather channels, and such like. Might want to try that.

Gee, ya think? LOL!!

@justawhoaman

I hope you’re getting some of this!

We prayed for floods to fill all our ponds. I live in the middle centerline of the ranch which got an inch over night and my manager and his wife live about 1/2mile east of me and they got 1.5". The ranch is approximately a square mile and that house is practically on the line (which also happens to be the county line- very cool concrete historical marker there which has the first letter of each county on opposite sides.)

BTW, overnight we are starting to see the faint glimmer of green in some of our fields and the plants definitely are happy even though working outside is like being in a sauna, aka Houston most of the time!

Happy your seeing the good kind of green!
Yes Ma’am, Houston is a hot wet mess, 24/7!
Now, if you can just get at least 1.5 per week, that would be great!

Thanks for the Austin video, I haven’t been watching the local channels. It was wonderful and such a relief from the 100+ temperatures. Hope we can get an early start on our fall vegetable gardens now … Good news for @justawoman too, farmers, ranchers, and all drought stricken areas, but we can use more!

You’re welcome. Longer range forecast shows some possible tropical development in GOM in the next week or so. Rain welcome, heavy wind and storm surge, not! LOL!
