Time will tellâŚ
Human nature generally prevails over authoritarian attempts of control.
I was heartened a few years ago when the normies were against scanning their palms to pay for things.
And more people than ever want anonymity in banking, thats why crypto was /is so big.
And plenty of my scummy neighbours and myself use cash.
I pay with cash too and like to keep a stash on hand, just in case, one never knowsâŚstopped by the bank today to withdraw some cash from an ATM machine and was denied the transaction with a notification on the screen advising the debit card had been flagged for suspicious activity. I withdrew some cash yesterdayâŚAI detected and classified the account activity. Had to call and have the block removed. The banks use AI to monitor accounts so itâs simply a matter of telling AI the parameters and conditions to deny any transaction. The passport ID nonsense is ridiculous and unnecessary if the banks did due diligence when setting up an account. The passport ID is an efficiency measure for the banks along with other convenient uses to inventory and track the populace.
The other excuse they always use is to fight âcriminal activity / money launderingâ etc but meanwhile they do it with impunity.
The funny thing is the ATM has cameras facing the customer as they conduct their transaction. The mobile app for the bank still allows password access but has added a feature for setting up facial recognition for access too. I have not done soâŚam I being prompted? Obviously the bank is in the process of requiring a digital ID at ATMS.
My local Credit Union who prides itself on being a non corporate non threatening local organic place for small business and residents, has had a prompt on the Phone Application asking if you want to sign up for Digital ID for at least a year now.
âWe just want to make sure itâs you getting your funds.â
Iâve never had a fraud issue on my bank account. I only use it at the bankâs ATM to get cash, never to purchase anything.
I use debit card very rarely but occasionally.
Since itâs âreal moneyâ versus credit. It also is linked to my ebay account when i want to use âreal moneyâ and not go into debt when buying that missing season of Insert Show Here on DVD
You having cash and using cash is all very fine.
But I hear of more and more places that no longer accepts cash.
Plus The Powers That Be surely will give incentives , benefits to stores and shops for not accepting cash anymore. Sadly
I think we are at the end of one of those roads at this point in time.
Now that AI is used to find flaws in security; wouldnt it be an excellent opportunity for AI to leave out information/ make it easier to get/take control of money systems?
The whole âMythosâ debacle seems to me as more proof theyve lost all control over financial sytems already.
The last place I worked for 10 years was as the manager of a privately owned recreational vehicle park and resort where payment terms included cash, no problem stealing is against my personal values. The new owners are a corporation that changed the payment terms to exclude cash, only cards and checks.
They have since gone through two managers, both fired due to theft of funds and mismanagement for self enrichment within the last two years. They are now going on their third manager. I guess where there is a will, there is a way to embezzle.
Or, the Corporations steal it, and frame the chump managers?
I worked for the new owners for a few months after the sale to tie up and close out the previous ownerâs interests in the property. The corporate office is located in Beverly Hills CA and they own about 40 RV and trailer parks. The folks I had to deal with seemed not quite on the up and up. I guess they hire people like themselves? I suspect they have a cozy relationship with banks, probably do laundry cash and use the cashless policy as a cover.
