The lost City of the Monkey God describes how modern lidar techniques were used to find, in this case, an ancient city in our hemisphere. A great adventure with a cautionary warning of the perils that still exist in nature.
Dancing Under The Red Star was a fascinating but very dark book for me. Highly recommend.
