Every now and then I get an article that I hesitate to blog about, not because it does not stimulate ideas and speculations, but rather because it is both so broad and so profound, so lengthy and well-considered, that my attempts to summarize much less to speculate upon its content, simply seems like a distraction…

With these “credentials” why are we listening to anything he is saying? These people are ALWAYS manipulating, propagandizing and in some cases outright lying. He appears to be just a “better” Lou. No trust molecule for him or his ilk.
I’m think UFO crash retrival is terrestrial origin.

I too watched that interview and I found the proposition of reverse engineering alien craft without any engagement in what the underlying physics could be utterly incredulous; Davis had to be lying. At least that was my conclusion!

Nuclear physicist and UFO researcher Stanton T. Friedman famously used the Columbus analogy to illustrate the difficulty of reverse-engineering advanced extraterrestrial technology, arguing it would be “like asking Columbus to reverse engineer a nuclear submarine in the 15th century”.
Why the analogy works:
- Vast Technological Gap: A 15th-century explorer would completely lack the foundational knowledge of nuclear physics, metallurgy, and electronics required to understand how the vessel was built.
- The “Magic” Problem: Columbus could study the submarine, ride in it, and document its incredible capabilities, but his society would be fundamentally incapable of building or replicating it themselves.
- The Core Argument: Friedman used this scenario to rebut skeptics who demanded that UFO researchers must definitively “prove” the existence of aliens by building an alien engine. He maintained that even if a government successfully recovered advanced spacecraft, their engineers would lack the prerequisite modern scientific understanding to replicate it.
