Hi everyone. Thank you for being so patient through our website and computer difficulties. Daniel has fixed the admin page problem, and I also bought a new computer. We’re still working out some bugs and kinks, and one of those looks, unfortunately, like I will lose my long-time Facebook account (my Joseph Patrick Farrell account), so I will not be posting ANYTHING there any more. I AM working on a new account there, but Facebook being what and who they are, that may not work out. Accordingly, if you rely on my Facebook account for news and notifications, please reset everything to the website and forum. I’ll keep everyone updated if I am able to get a new account.
Losing Facebook… I can think of worse things…
Glad you got it back Doc! Hope the new computer is actually an upgrade…Personally, I prefer old to new, and fight to keep it that way. To each his own though.
I basically had to do it. The old one was doing all sorts of strange things and it was in part I think responsible for what happened. We’re still working through things, and I’m hoping to get another Facebook account, or failing that, some other social media platform that people can migrate to.
Glad you are online and in communication with us Gizars.
I guess I could say congrats on the new PC but with windows 11 and whatnot, there really is a lot to complain about with having to get a new machine.
Keep on truckin’!
Facebook went weird on me when I upgraded computers last time. I just kept fussing with it until it gave me my account back. I don’t think it’s a personal thing, just an annoying thing since I don’t really post there, just follow a few things.
I wish I could say that because I depend on Facebook to a certain extent to stay in touch with people, but they are absolutely NOT helping me or anyone else… frankly, it’s time for a class action suit against them for the high-handed actions. Anyone know a good lawyer willing to put the screws to them? I’m hoppiing mad!
Was the old computer totally defunct? As a stopgap measure perhaps you could set it up independently just to log on Facebook and then perhaps reset the password that way.
It would be a bit of trouble to do it that way…but I’m doing that very thing right now while I make time to get the (replacement) main machine fully operational.
Just a thought…
Don’t think litigation is the way to go either. It’s an uphill battle as they have all the money/lawyers… better to try and catch Zuckerborg off guard and back-alley him. I hear he’s vulnerable when his head is removed for the weekly scheduled maintenance…
A new computer symbolizes a new and different user to their AI system. Proving ownership of previous accounts requires human knowledge and interaction…would be easy with a digital ID for the AI system to complete the electronic transaction to recognize the situation, perhaps Facebook’s way to push for acceptance of a digital ID.
Sounds like how I had to fix mine, Mohgarr. It’s been a while now, but I remember doing a lot of fiddling. It didn’t get done in one day either. It took a few weeks and lots of patience. There is one site where I did post park pictures of deer and birds. It absolutely will not let me on there and I have checked with the park people in charge of that and I’m not black balled or whatever. Just can’t get on there for some reason. But I have it for the groups I need it for.
I’ve thought about doing that… I may yet, but it’s a lot of work and I’ve got to catch up with the emails &c… perhaps I’ll try that in a couple of weeks.
I take it that you don’t have an iPad or the like, which I find convenient for Facebook, X, etc.?
That is a point. I think that might have helped me get my Facebook account back. Set it up on the black mirror (phone), then deleted it when I found it worked on there somewhat, kind of like priming that old Meyer pump. But those of us that have those things would love to get rid of them and those that don’t have one aren’t getting one. Even the pastor at church got rid of his about a year ago and advised his congregation to do the same. of course, no one listened.
