… title should read “US Institutions are at the end stage of collapse.” Unfortunately, the collapse has been ongoing since the end of World War II - 1950 (depending on your markers, some use the 1913 Federal Reserve Act). The point of this comment being that if one sees the collapse as something that has already occurred (instead of ongoing) the change of perspective (and the interpretations of what one sees going on) might alter considerations of possible actions from this point forward. Think of this situation as involving a Social Figure / Ground problem. After all, wasn’t this the central problem of our “most recent unpleasantness”?

For my part, I’ve written off our national institutions as failed and unworthy of much attention. How best to survive a period of imperial decline in the 21st-century context is, on the other hand, a pertinent question.
