On April 21, 2017, Murthy was relieved of his duties as 19th Surgeon General by President Donald Trump. His deputy surgeon general, Rear Admiral Sylvia Trent-Adams was named acting surgeon general.
Does anybody know what the motivation was to replace Murthy?

They still haven’t replaced him, it’s just that the US now has a Surgeon Admiral instead.
