Am sloshing my way through this book and encountering much of what is happening here.
What books are considered “mandatory reading” these days? This should be up there. I find it strange that you posted this an hour ago because I haven’t thought about this book in years, save for this morning I mentioned it on another site. Synchronicity comes to my mind here.
I think that’s Jordan Peterson’s favorite book. I don’t think I’ve read it yet.
Emotionally, it was one of the most difficult books I’ve come in contact with. Counterintuitively, I highly recommend it to people who have little knowledge of life under communism. People deserve to know what they are in for before they get there.
My best friend is from communist Poland & even though not “communist”, I’ve been to Russia number of times for work. We try to tell people, but everyone things Putin is different. He is different to a small degree, but not different enough.
You’re right. People would be correct in thinking Putin is different, we all are different. They are just not looking at History and thinking the thought all the way through to it’s inevitable, tried time and again, murderous conclusion. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. U.S. has a class of corrupt officials running it; in a communist country you have one man running the show.
I guess a person can’t really understand until they’ve been there. I feel sorry for what I think The Russian People are about to face, again.
Now is our time to shine, it is books like this one that, I believe, have the power to open eyes and awaken the fear of communism had by those who know.

What comment and who is the user? “Deleted” user?
This comment, says ‘unknown/deleted user’.
That’s bizarre, but this would be the site for that…
