Vegetable Shortage?

I have an alternative suggestion, maybe don’t get into a johnson swinging contest with a large bear.

[Re: the BBC headline and photo] Wow, that is rich! I haven’t had such a good laugh in a long time!! There’s one consolation, I suppose: at least it’s turnips, not bugs. (Do we think Therese Coffey knows what a turnip – or a vegetable – is??)

First of all, I went to bed last night and there were vegetables all over the shop. So what vegetable shortage exactly are we taking about?

Secondly why would the humble turnip be the first choice when good old potatoes have got us through much rougher times in recent history.

Third of all, how about you go first and lay off the truffles?

what vegetable shortage exactly are we taking about?

Good question… I’ve got a friend in England I talk to regularly, and this is the first I’ve heard of a vegetable shortage. Even if there is one that lasts “up to four weeks,” that doesn’t exactly sound like cause to panic. Is the BBC scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with new fear porn?

Complete and utter tosh, there’s more than enough fresh fruit and vegetables to go around. Unless the Government decide to make impossible to import but that would be irresponsible and evil so couldn’t be the case right?

“At present, Tesco customers can buy up to three tomatoes, three peppers and three cucumbers in one visit.”

Can’t recall the last time I bought three cucumbers in one visit but fair enough.
