This is already a requirement to be a delivery driver with uber they require a new selfie picture about every day.

The whole Tweeter/X thing is simply step to more advanced AI. Chinese have all app with their fingerprints, iris reading and facial recognition stuff. Clearly American AI is behind, so Musk got an another order from DS to advance efforts. Problem is Americans smell the rat, and only money/income will change minds of some. Will that be enough to move ahead of China. Time will tell.
The new feature is optional and only for these who are making money of their X feeds.
