Was AI engineered, using too much energy?

Ultimately, AI systems will need to go smaller[Robyn Mak in Reuters].
As they exist today, on the cloud, their energy and cash consumption needs are getting preposterous[unless, another source of energy is on a Breakaway schedule?].
“Edge AI” - smaller AI models running on smart phones or PCs,
not data farms - is the necessary solution.
“Today’s devices don’t have the computing power” to run a large model like GPT-4,
but that is where the technology must lead.

Wonder if the “Western” information flows are going to be cut;
where/when the BRICS, may move their energy infrastructure technologies - in other directions?
Monopoly infrastructures, are the stuff of financial capitalism; not industrial capitalism.
At least two political/economic systems are at cross-purposes.
And; will energy play a huge role, in their differences?

Or, are ‘they’ connected in off-world ways; that preclude stark energy differences.

The cutting off of Russian energy from Europe is an example of?
Is the DEI[diversity, equity and inclusion] such an example - of purposed economic destruction?

To what ends?
Of course, the USSA gets the money & power, but at the expense of Europe?
And, when that runs out?
Do they eat their own?

AI’s biggest flaw can also be reduced to ‘garbage in, garbage out’.
