The quote came from a book I just finished reading that connected a whole lot of dots intellectually and politically. One of those “amazing books”…published in 1932 prior to the devastating WWII.
My synopsis—-
Here’s the book I found the quote. Just finished reading. The author spent his academic career studying the American Revolution and the 17th century Enlightenment. He brings out the motifs in religions and revolutionary thought with the notion of the God concept to save mankind from an otherwise meaningless purpose in existence.
Quite “illuminating”…

… another goody by Reinhold Niebuhr’s younger, smarter brother.

Thanks. I’m curious why so many of these older books are marked “Withdrawn” from the academic libraries. Due to space, lack of interest over time or a purge?
… all of the above plus a few others.
