We just completed a major hypersonic milestone – turbojet to ramjet mode transition!
What’s exactly happening?
At low speeds our engine is in turbojet mode – but that only gets us to around Mach 3.
We then transition to ramjet mode which is optimal for Mach 3-5.
This is one of the most important technological feats to making operational hypersonic flight a reality.
Most hypersonic platforms use rockets – our approach allows us to use existing infrastructure at traditional airports.
