After a quick search, I was unable to find any mention of this cloud formation before 1940. WW2 saw the the number of fast moving aircraft increase dramatically.

… and lest we forget AUTEC ( Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center) has operations in that neck of the woods, um … er … uhhh , Tongue of the ocean (TOTO).

I couldn’t agree more … that is THEIR explanation for these clouds … You’re right … A hundred years ago these would have never been seen … And the cause could ONLY be nefarious …
