I witnessed two husbands who died in my presence. One had terminal cancer, age 43; the second, a type 1 diabetic, simply ruined his health to his death by diabetic coma, age 53. The first one literally came out of his body causing me to scream and leave the room when he died. He could not come to terms with his death and he lingered around my house for almost 10 years. People could feel him watching them, none were told he was there so they independently were spooked by this feeling. My last husband witnessed a “ghost”, a smoky image in the house when I wasn’t there. When he died, I firmly believe he was ready for it, although he didn’t say anything, his simply lack of care after 45 years of being extremely scientific about his health suggested he was done.

Fascinating. This research supports what I have experienced. BTW, I also have a friend who has been trained to help those who have passed to accept their death and move on. Rather eerie.

Oh, and my aunt told my father, the younger brother, that their older sister who died at age 12 from a ruptured appendix (there was literally no health care- pre Depression- coal mining town in NE Ohio) and she came and sat on the end of the bed and waved her to follow. She died two days later. Her husband, whom she had known since childhood, had died a month earlier. I think she simply gave up and didn’t really want to go on without him. Pretty fascinating to me that this is not unique.

Good post, thanks for sharing.

When people ask why I believe in God I tell them its because I should have died at least six times but I’m still here. Drifting in and out of consciousness in hospital, I heard two doctors say they had no idea how I was still alive given the condition was in. I heard a still, small voice in my head say “Remember this. This is important”. I knew I’d been saved for a reason and that the good Lord will take me when my time is done.

With the sad state of the world today, all I can say is “Nearer my God to Thee”. I don’t fear death, I am curious and excited to know what comes after.
