how does one treat and respect their fans/followers? With respect?

- who is “one”? Is it: You —— or someone you know? BE SPECIFIC, please ;
- fans[ = fanatics] , or followers? And do you allow for the difference? ;
- are you questioning as to whether different people in world history have had alternating views and attitudes towards fanatics? ;
- or, are you( perhaps clumsily?) attempting to allude to an instance where you have been treated with disrespect?

i always thought that ‘fans’ were like wind-fans, but fanatics seems much more appropriate. my bad. English is only my third tongue…
