I didn’t know exactly what the escalation would be, only that it was coming this month.

Notice that U.S. is attacking oil infrastructure and not military targets. Trump is actually telling the truth when he says he’s attacking economic targets; he’s just telling us the ultimate goal. Sending business to The U.S. West Coast IS the goal.
