No, Christ has already returned. He was born, and when he came of age he began his ministry and teachings. The Romans crucified him, Christ ‘died’ and went to Hades where he ministered to those went before him. Then he ‘rose from the dead’, which was his 2nd coming, and further taught his disciples, and sent them into the ‘world’ to spread the ‘gospel’.
Lucifer had to deceive the World, and taught that at some future Time in History [NO TIME FRAME GIVEN], that Christ would return to Earth along with a host of ‘angelic’ beings, perhaps that would be some alien force riding to Earth on UFO’s. That will be the DECEPTION.
Doesn’t eschatological thought say the deception will take place and then Jesus comes back ?
BEAVER, just add to title a refutation, so people get interested in listening instead of scrolling with head shake.
Correct, and what is the ‘Deception’? What work, or works if any that Christ was to accomplish, were left undone?
… in order for this to be allowed to post there must be many letters … now, let us see if it will work (actual reply to follow all these unnecessary letters)
…a simple NO.
His reign over earth.
I’m just recounting popular thought, not saying I’m convinced. Can you elaborate on the theory that his return already happened? I’m interested.
To return?
What if I told you he never left?
Then what?
The way I remember the ‘theory, or story’ is that at some unspecified date in the future Christ would return to Earth, and all believers, whether dead of living would meet him in the atmosphere. Sounds highly suspicious, and far-fetched. Lacks authenticity when compared to the precision in which Christ’s birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection were conducted.
Consider the birth, life, and Christ’s ministry on Earth. Then his death and his ministry in Hades, followed by his resurrection on the 3rd day. That would be his RETURN. Then there was his final accent off of the Earth and back into Heaven. Now, considering he was born on the Earth, died and left Earth by going into Hades, then one could logically assert that was Christ’s 2nd coming.
That series of events would leave the character we know as Lucifer with a problem: ‘how to deceive’ humankind into ‘believing’ he would return again, for the 3rd time. By my simple accounting of the events outlined above that would leave Lucifer, and his kind with a problem. So, why not simply write a script, a ‘storyline’, and pass it off as the Gospel Truth? Never, ever, ever forget this highly important fact: none of the New Testament was indelibly written in stone, or by other means that could not be disputed.
Once a Person does some research into the Emerald Tablets, and other highly relevant ‘stuff’ it will be plain that the planet Earth could likely be about 66 million years old based on the movement of the Earth’s tectonic plates. Another clue would be that all granite rock contains polonium haloes. Polonium is a highly radioactive element. but unlike uranium some isotopes of polonium have a very, very, very short half-life. Therefore most of what is written in the book of Genesis is highly likely to be a ‘story’ that should be considered somewhat misleading, at best.
Another important, but disputed doctrine for the early church fathers was the Doctrine of Double Procession. That one claims the Holy Spirit ‘proceeds’ form both the Father and the Son. If my memory serves me well at all that Doctrine was highly disputed between the Eastern Church and the Roman Church, or more precisely those folks who reside in the Vatican.
Start thinking about how large is the Universe? The Universe is larger than GINORMOUS. If GINORMOUS is beyond your comprehension, then start understanding about Time and Space, and then NOTHING. If No-Thing was larger than our known Universe, which is pretty BIG, then start thinking that ‘everything’ is actually, truthfully bigger than EVERYTHING you could possibly IMAGINE.
Get it now? Space is way, way, way beyond ANYTHING you, as a PERSON, can IMAGINE IN YOUR LITTLE, ITTY-BITTY, TENNY-TINY mind, and it could very likely be because it is a NO-THING.
Interesting train of thought.
Which made me think that I forgot to change the link in my last post with a more official one. Namely, the previous link was not in accordance with the guiding lines of this forum. So thanks for the answer, it was memory stimulating.
We have NO original writings concerning the Jesus that was decided upon by the Roman Gov’t in 325 A.D. so it is pointless to base our Belief System upon the conclusions of other human beings, who also have no original writings! Each person has their own “Jesus” they believe in! Each of us can believe whatever it is we WISH to believe…that doesn’t make it true, does it?! For an alternate view on this Jesus figure, check out Joseph Atwill’s “Caesar’s Messiah”!
Thanks for that. I will focus my thought down this path and see what shakes out.
I didn’t know he left?
I just “heard” of His presence, within a group of people.
… and for yet another view of the whole shebang … see Mircea Eliade’s - The Myth of the Eternal Return: Cosmos and History
… and also Hyam Maccoby’s - The Myth-Maker, Paul and the Invention of Christianity

Here’s access to Scarmoge’s referenced book.
Looks like a short treatise.
Yes, I like that idea sort of, since one can really never say Christ has left given he is part of the Eternal Trinity. I would also like to know more concerning JPF’s saying there is a difference in beliefs about how the East and West view Christianity. Thanks for any insights.
