What about centralized information control? Mass entertainment and distraction?”

I believe and hope that one off the big differences to previous buildups after world wars will be, a group of people intent on building something anew and not hook it up to the greater grid. Form smaller communities that connect with other smaller communities.
I am sick of fascism and socialism, let alone the two combined with todays technological capabilities. Bigger question will be, can humanity prevent the unliesh of war toys and can we survive it? Can we form the basis of a consistant culture in a world made of soup with to much ingredients, and thus doesn’t know if it wants to be tomato soup and or asparagus soup? Will it be smaller conclaves of different cultures that learn to live next to each other and work together when needed?
So many more questions and a lot that need to be ironed out!
