I don’t have an x account but get a gist of the message, and frustration embedded within in.

That theme popped up in a review of (what looks like an interesting) book (by James Marriott) on declining literacy: Declining reading threatens democracy

And was expounded in a very thoughtful article by James Marriott: The dawn of the post-literate society - by James Marriott

This lady TikTok video also ended in my X feed. Honestly watching it, half a time I thought it is a fake for clicks.
The monstrosity of ignorance and analphabetism of these kids was so surreal, to the point I had to consider this option : it was made fake/lie.

Pamphleteers had a significant impact on the organization of groups to counter authoritarian regimes. Mandatory educational requirements for literacy advanced the cause for liberation of the masses until critical thinking proficiency interfered with the propaganda. Hence, the dumbing down of education began to counter the resistance. Today’s educated students will no longer be a threat since they have not been educated in the “old system”. Now pamphlets are visual, no need for literacy.

In fact, the medium[Youtube/Instadram/Facebook] shape their visual/auditory communications…
Through their fast changing “rules”, that guide their “clicks” by internalizing the depth of their shifts.
