I used to have Comcast but cancelled long ago. Still get promotional emails. Didn’t know about 10G.
It’s all about advertising @thebeaver
“Let’s clarify what the two terms mean: 5G refers to the fifth generation of cellular technology, while 10G refers to the speed by which data can enter homes through cable and fiber connections.”
Ericsson is only up to 5G;
u’ll never need it, unless u r planning to link ur brain to the cloud.
honestly we even can’t fathom the amount of data that goes through a 10G link. possibly dreams r a good parallel to it. mining knowledge from dream state. but in this stance, ‘they’ construct ur dreams… and ur frequency-state is being modified by the 10G waves. they do not even need the pyramids, just these ‘poles’ around.
It says comcast is calling this 10G for gigabytes per second speed in lines, not wireless, but looks like this is lie to use that label because the fastest speed this will even clock is 1.2 gibabytes.
There is a difference between bits and bytes (8 bits = 1 byte). Marketers use gigabit per second (Gb/s) and transmission speeds are measured that way too. Gigabyte is usually a storage metric, gigabit a tranmission metric, at lease in practice.
There are plenty of network backbones that run in excess of 100’s of Gb/s, terrabits (Tb/s) per second and so on. These are usually private telco links between banks or major datacentres and are not delivered to the home. You will get what you get, the banks will get what they pay for, and they pay for a lot.
Sal2lee described the difference between wireless mircrowave and raw speed on cable, and that’s an important distinction to make: ie, G = Gigabit (Gb) in transmission speed descriptions, G = Generation in microwave length transmission methodology (5G = 5th generation wireless).
One byte is 8 bits, so bits are like blueberries eight for a mouthfull.
I have gigabit fiber internet from local phone company, they use these for phone service now to but there are still copper phone lines installed but they aren’t supported anymore. Hoping they will re-activate these if I set up a business account with them because those are more reliable than fiber and don’t need secondary power source to work. Phone lines are all underground but power fails every time there is a windstorm and knocks down trees on lines.
Never used cable, there are cable lines on my street too that have similar speeds to fiber but does cost a lot to pay for cable service.
This is why I usually turn off wi-fi at night, forgot to do that yesterday did have some weird dreams last night.
I don’t have or use WiFi or a modem though I received a post card today from Spectrum for “free WiFi”. Usually receive a couple ads a month from them for cable and Internet service. I don’t even own a television. Last week they sent a door to door sales rep…geez leave me alone.
Thank all of you for the great information! I don’t know much about it all; it’s just not where I ‘reside’.
