The Rise of the Desk Clerks…a good article here that pretty much sums up a lot of what is wrong in the Australian ‘Academia’ world, and likely by extrapolation, in academia in the western world in general. It is a sad feature of the state of education that gives credence to such descriptions as the ‘dumbing down’ of the population. Plato was correct (as were others…Confucius for example) in suggesting that one’s ‘epistemological journey’ is one’s own responsibility, and I readily accept that challenge, but boy, it’s getting harder and harder for younger thinkers to find a pathway through the morass!

Yep, anyone from the old school is run off the campus or has died. A friend retired from 20 years at the same university as a tenured hospitality professor. He enjoyed the status and job stability but remarked that the growth of “Administrative Assistants” who became the “enforcers” of university policy and wokeness became untenable at the end.
