You Raise Me Up

Beautiful lyrics by Brendan Graham, to this lovely song composed by Rolf Løvland, and sung (on this sound track) by Josh Groban:

When I reflect upon the lyrics, I think not only of the spirit of God whose power we can access to bring beauty and peace to our precious world, but also of the depth of gratitude for all of the many people who are working hard to raise all of us up to more than we can be.

A common wedding service song here in Ireland. Lovely song!

Yes, I can appreciate this song would be very popular at weddings.

I think the lyrics are brilliant – Christians can relate to them, and also non-Christians can relate to them in terms of drawing strength from their spousal- and family- and community- connections.

For me, there is also an overarching beauty of lyric combined with the essence of the hymn which is: transcendence beyond our own selves, to bring harmony to our living world (which needs loving care beyond just the material).
