For de-escalation, yes, Bill Hicks. Too many people use whatever local drama is going on as the opportunity to “get rid of those ______ who I don’t like but meanwhile I go along with droning those inconvenient Xs over there who interfere w my favorite group’s Will to Power,” never realizing the Patriot Act will come for thee too one day!
LA has been a mess for years (Chinatown, anyone?) but somehow I don’t think the solution is a simple one.
My 10 pence worth, you are overthinking it too much, you either have brothers and sisters who deeply feel and believe what you say or you don’t. Stop wasting time trying to convince new recruits because YOU HAVE NO TIME. In other words, if conversations feel like mirrors you are on the right track, if not choose between casting your pearls before swine or organising. All the best!
You think the Constitutional Republic is losing this war? I don’t think so. All the unlawful legal shenanigans of the past century is now deemed fraudulent so good luck thinking you can hire a British Accreditation Registry member to defend you against the Insurrection Act. Take a look at what is parked out in the Pacific right now. We ain’t losin’ this one. It has been planned since 2017 and the left has fallen straight in the trap. This is The Storm that Trump has been talking about for many years.
As an outsider since childhood, daughter of two working class outsiders, I’m usually never in any group too long. I like Bill Hicks for his Life is just a ride and his shtick about the California law defending pedestrians was funny, except as the only person I knew who lived & worked in LA for 5 yrs & never owned a car, I was pretty doggone glad for it at times.
I think what I was trying to say was yesterday I saw Catherine say that Trump could deal with the illegals in California in a heartbeat by fining those who hire them - but DJT will NEVER do that. Those California ranchers and property developers whose construction hire most of those Mexicans (yeah, some are in drug trade, so are many white Anglos) are never held accountable for anything by anyone. As for the ranchers & the pedestrian law, I knew a former medical student who worked giving medical care free to the farmworkers - a Tanimura & Antle or other big grower’s truck drivers were instructed to hit anyone in the roads near the farms who got in their way - the young doctor was nearly killed.
I think I was online too much the past couple of days. I also agree with Shannon Joy -

I hope you are right, I think any right minded personhood would feel this way.
I’m leaning to the same conclusion too, wag the dog
Bill Hicks, a “real” comedian.
Never would find him on the Comedy-Lite’s; The Tonight Show, The Late Show with [tamed comedians].
I was 16 when I first encountered the ‘dark prophet’ and my goodness did he resonate. Still as relevant as ever.
Great quote from Pinball (and I paraphrase)
“Whatever flag you fly, it is beneath the stars and stripes”
I have a friend who actually likes Stephen Colbert . Yes, the funny people of the past were much wittier and Bill Hicks was pretty on point for a lot of things.
Oh dear, looks like a main stream media ho
I actually watch Stephen Colbert at times[just the outrageous monologue].
He’s portrays an Uber-Commiecrat.
I would hate to think; he actually believes, his own press.
His audience eats-up the neoliberal cannon-fodder; their usually canned pre-programmed, info-diet.
He did a Great DC press corporation dinner years ago; actually invited by George the Dumber.
“You don’t like it, don’t come here”
And you used the bingo word - exactly - neoliberal. I guess if I wanted to torture myself, I could listen but the hypocrisy gets to me. He’s so socially concerned he lives in a $10M mansion. Oh, but then that’s modest for The Industry, and I must remember - that’s my aspiration, to live like that.
Silver and/or lead.
The binary establishment’s choice.
Haha - I think? What a choice. It certainly is binary and even those who claim to be anti-binary will defend vociferously that particular binary.
Looking gnarly, 2000 police deployed? 700 marines, I just hope nobody gets trampled.
… all for show … none will go. Same as it ever was …
Was reminded of the post ww2 veterans compensation marches and the hard hat riots of 1970, things could get very ugly if people get shot.
