Messengers Who Changed the World

Dear Gizas, Let’s be inspiring to each other for a dab of time. What do you do to bring light to your world? For my part, I like to start big things with short prayers, like the 5th evangelist did when he worked. How about yourself? What messengers changed your world?

I randomly give out prayer cards to total strangers. Nothing pushy, just unexpected and sometimes that can mean the world to others🙂

St. Patrick’s Breastplate

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
I arise today
Through the strength of Christ’s birth with His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.
I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In the predictions of prophets,
In the preaching of apostles,
In the faith of confessors,
In the innocence of holy virgins,
In the deeds of righteous men.
I arise today, through
The strength of heaven,
The light of the sun,
The radiance of the moon,
The splendor of fire,
The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth,
The firmness of rock.
I arise today, through
God’s strength to pilot me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and near.
I summon today
All these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel and merciless power
that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man’s body and soul;
Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me an abundance of reward.
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.

Not to forget, dear Gizas, the special dog-messengers who change our personal worlds:

I agree… I have been inspired by Bach’s practice in that regard too… and look what glorious music he composed under that little prayer “Jesu Juvat” and S.D.G…

That dog looks EXACTLY like Dillon that i rescued from Austin Dog Prison (I was rescuing rehome-able dogs in 2014) and Dillon and his friend, Dora (labeled as a male on their internet site) were pretty much NOT reHome-able so I decided to rescue them to see if I could salvage what humans had done to them. Both dogs had been running along Research Blvd. in North Austin for about 9 months so it took a trap to get them. Dora was first (she became extremely ill in the prison, with kennel cough that had her temperature over 104F when we got her here). Dillon took another week to catch and he had that air of, “Really? I may have fallen for that stupid food trick but I won’t be easily fooled again”. We attached a muzzle to get him in the back of my car, into a crate. I used it to get him to our kennel.

While we waited in her kennel to get her used to the idea that we were saving her, Dora went through various treatments to save her from her illness. Meanwhile, on about day 2 of me applying a collar and taking Dillon for a walk with me, he suddenly looked at me and said, " Hey, you are cool. I like it here. What do you want me to do?"

He was my close companion until a sudden illness, more like a poisoning, took his life a few years ago. I will never forget his ability to look directly into my eyes, like some hybrid wolves I have known, and show me just how much he trusted what I had done for him.

To Dillon. May his soul teach others, especially humans, what trust truly means.

Haydn too: Every manuscript of Haydn’s music starts with “In nomine Domini” and ends with “Laus Deo”. JSB and Haydn obeyed St Paul: Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God.
