Love the opening scene where Patton’s speech ends with “goose”.
The film lived up to the book’s caliber[Day Of the Jackal]
Others that do are rare.
Shogun and Lonesome Dove also live up to the book’s impact.
Seven Days In May was good, as was the book.
My all-time favorite television series, and a very entertaining show is the Mentalist. Created by Bruno Heller, Simon Baker plays the character ‘Jane’ who starts working as a consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation after his wife and daughter are murdered. Raised by a carnival family he learned from a young age all the tricks, and methods of ‘fleecing’ folks of their money. An accomplished pickpocket, liar, and a card shark who can cheat folks with a smile on his face. While many of the people he meets think of as him as a psychic, he often informs folks that he is not. It’s mostly just trickery, fakery, and most of all outwitting others due to their own hubris because most folks, dishonest or not, often think more highly of themselves than they ought to. There are no psychics, just highly skilled con artists.
Thank you for sharing this, nidster! I found this the show for free on Roku.
You will love it. I purchased the DVD set, and into my 4th viewing over the course of 4 years.
Just ordered the 1st season from my library.
Thanks for the tip. Most “new” DVD’s are full of “wokeism”;
which appears to be extremely forced into the script.
How the actors can go through their lines and "acting w/o
tossing their last meal, is beyond me…
For example, I just picked up the latest Star Trek: Discovery - Season 4
from my local library. Won’t be able to get to disc 2; let alone 3 & 4.
Also picked up the first season of “Reacher” based on Child’s first novel:
“The Killing Floor”. The only novel of his I’ve read.
It’s an updated plot of something we’ve discussed at this site:
counterfeit “Super Notes”. The woke culture is hard to detect here. It’s there, as a reflection of the forced reality in society; but not as in your face, as the rest of the usual suspect Hollywood ideologies.
I’m looking forward to season two which will be based on his 12th novel.
Want to see if it improves; as the author Child, seems to be heavily involved.
He’s old school, and has to know what he’s up against.
If I may suggest a series on Amazon Prime. Every episode was great IMO.
Smart and funny!!
Good movie with a screenplay by Dalton Trumbo… the ending is about the actuarial tables for all the dead witnesses…
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 is better in a way, then Discovery a lot better in my opinion.
At least there is no LGBT suff in it, although it starts with windmills scene.
And that was one strange thing in it, but only one.
The more they stay away from those gnostic ideologies; the better.
Ordered it from local library.
Good movie. No over dramatization. Worth our time to watch, and as you wrote, the most ‘telling’ information is at the end about the material witnesses.
Watched this! I like a black comedy. I don’t intend to be political but the theme did riff on absurdity of a machismo culture. And the last vignette ( the wedding) this was a mix of forgiveness and having your cake and eating it too. Funny.
Some wild dark comedies!
Great opening: an airline, w/an unscheduled early landing!
But still don’t know who is Pasternak
