Socrates taught dialectic in the open. He’d crush you and usually his opponent had no idea he was being verbally decimated and he showed compassion. Not force. He was all about just before this, and just behavior that.
But, and it’s a big beautiful But, if you weren’t able to handle the compulsory teachings of the Greek liberal arts, you relegated to the position of Bus Boy. And you were respected for it.
You were trained with your hands, learned practical skills so you could serve society and bring home the bacon. You didn’t get involved with issues of the state and the collective good other than taking the plates off the table.

I read Scott Adams for many years even before social media and his popularity went thru the roof when he started decoding Trump for the normies. He used to have a blog with much fewer people and we used to interact before the mob came on board. Then after COVID, I stopped listening to him.
I didn’t get the jab and I’ll never take the jab. So I didn’t have an official COVID card and my coffee shop wouldn’t let me in and I was walking the streets in the cold and everyone thought I was an outcast because I wouldn’t take the jab.
Scott had too much damn influence to call us nut jobs for questioning the narrative. He was still a highly skilled individual and likeable person. Just didn’t always agree on his takes. But always respected him. He should have stayed out of that one. I’d been reading on the ill effects of vaccines for many years including the Polio vaccine that killed alot of people because the government said it was good.

I related to the Dilbert comic strip because at the time I was working in a non-supervisory position at a huge transnational corporation and saw the content where I worked. Other then that, I did not know much about him or that he was an advocate of “the shot”. The only time he was on my radar was when he was blacklisted for his black comments.

Picking political parties is the proverbial velvet mousetrap. Direct democracy is preferable for any local and/or national level decision-making. Sorry am more of an Thing and Althing type of person. We have seen how the checks and balances of political systems, bureaucracy and governance, become undermined or corrupted over time. Of the range of options political systems we currently have I would opt for Switzerland’s. Minimum 40% of power remains with the population and the rest is fought over by a myriad of political parties at national level. Physical checks and balances by dint of the numbers with the lion’s share of the power remaining with the population. Also works to ensure local matters are decided locally by those tax payers.
