Rogers 'making progress' on fixing massive outage snarling telecom, banking

The whole debit system is down across Canada, meaning you can’t make payments using a debit card. Debit cards can still be used to withdraw cash but at banks only. The media is poo pooing this as a Rogers Telecom problem only. Its much more as I explained above. Imagine pulling up to the gas pumps only to find out you must pay in cash and you don’t have any cash with you, a common occurrence these days. Not only that but you can’t withdraw any cash from the “bank machine”/ATM inside. Time to head out on foot and look for a bank I guess. These (banks) no longer exist in most rural locations. Won’t the tourists and the truckers love this! Believe it or not, many people don’t care. Some because they always use cash (myself included) and some because they don’t understand the depth of the issue. I’ve been asking the latter group; won’t digitization of money be grand?
Does anyone want to make a prediction on who’s responsible and why? Or, what’s the message and who’s the message for?

Sure hope citizens took lots of cash out of their account. Wouldn’t surprise me to see individuals short some money when it comes back on-line.

THE CREDIT FREEZE.

All citizens must use the paper money to cover their face.

For safety.

ALL CITIZENS MUST COVER THEIR FACE.

WHERE WE GO ONE, WE GO ALL.

COVER YOUR FACE. With the fake money.

Is the outage still ongoing?

Do you recall a network outage of this magnitude in the past?

@Peter
Yes the outage is ongoing with unverified rumors there will be no fix until Monday at the earliest. There has never been an outage anywhere close to this in the past.

Wow! The entire weekend without the “credit systems”. This could get interesting. By far the easiest way to bring chaos from order and vice versa, turn off the money. Are they recommending all citizens remain indoors? Will the stores even be open without digital Point Of Sale operations?

@Peter Everything is open for cash only and locally nobody seems to care enough to even talk about…trust the big telecom corps and the government I guess. Lemmings. I hope it lasts long enough to cause a bank run. Although, change can be slow to occur in Canada especially on the east coast. There’s probably more people using cash on a regular basis than I first thought. I’m still wondering if this is a test to gauge people’s reactions.

You are able to access this site. I’m confused as to the actual network problem. Are they saying the bank outage is a telecom problem, however, all other online rat traps are still operational?

I too pray for a bank run, the food run, the run of Jacob’s trouble. We cannot expect any real progress until their entire system is dead.

edit: I do not suggest this site is an online rat trap. u know what i mean.

The problem seems to be a breakdown in the debit and visa systems as well as the interac system. The blame being placed on only 1 telecom corporation seems out of place to me unless all 3 major telecoms are sharing resources which would not surprise me as the 3 big telecoms more often than not share physical resources such as towers with each placing their individual hardware on one another’s towers. Rogers Telecom seems to provide the poorest service in regards to the size of their available coverage area(s) in regards to cell phones and transmitting information by wireless. Competition is severely lacking as there are only 3 major telecoms in Canada, Rogers, Telus, and Bell. There are others but they are either owned by 1 of the big 3 or rent tower space and/hardware from them. This may be an attempt to squeeze out Rogers but that’s just my speculation. To my knowledge nobody is having problems connecting to the internet, making phone calls or texting. 911 call centers connected directly to Rogers are also experiencing issues in receiving call and contacting emergency services.

“The *Canadian Table of Frequency Allocations (Canadian Table) assigns the electromagnetic spectrum and establishes the frequency allocations available for radio services in Canada. The Canadian Table is based on the provisions of the Final Acts resulting from the various World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC), including the 2015 WRC, convened by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).”

Yes. Very curious failure scenario. Plus, it’s the best way to SUCK CASH out of the system.

They suck all of the CASH out so their unaccountable accounting is not so egregious.

Definitely some test case scenario as u say, the final exam will be issued when the basic fundamental building block of all life is TAXED. THE CARBON TAX.

FYI. I am sorry to report, my neighbor, who is triple vaxxed (perhaps quadruple vaxxed), has had “covid” several times plus blood transfusions, did not wake up on July 4. He is still alive, but they put him on the protocol, so I don’t expect him to live. Get this, he was suffering from CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING. Their GMO bodies are unable to expel C02. Very interesting effect on GMO test subjects.

I cannot believe how dumb the people are.

edit: or, maybe i mean carbon monoxide poison?

Wow, drowning in carbon dioxide! A coworkers wife was dying with lung cancer in 2020-2021 and the doctors’ main concern seemed to be her inability to not remove the carbon dioxide from her lungs. She died in December 2021. Strange I’d never heard of such a problem since I’ve had bacterial pneumonia 4 times.

I will speculate that had fibre optic not been replaced by wireless in whole or in part, this problem may have been avoided. Of course, cutting or tapping into fibre optic cables would still be a problem. More security and surveillance would lessen this problem but not eliminate it. Money seems to rapidly chase after “new and improved” more so than “tried and true”.

I stopped wondering the minute I heard it & the answer is YES.

Yesterday morning I received a text message on my phone from ATT that service would be down for 6 or 7 hours. I don’t use ATT as a service provider on my phone.
