You make a clever point about the y’all, aurajenn. There is language, and there is communication. Sometimes, they are compatibly related. At other times, not so much. To build tension, playwrights put theatrical disparities between
what she said and what he heard. Then, there is what the audience (y’all) may surmise about those disparities – with poetic faith, of course.

Yup I am not surprised… a shame we have to resort to laws to do what common sense and a little spine would easily accomplish… but it’s much easier to bow to fashion than do a little thinking; it’s easier to use modernist pedestrian words like “humankind” when “humanity” has been around for years.

I have a sneaking suspicion that “humankind” comes from mangling the expression “human kindness”, common in the early 1900’s. Human kindness meant that all humans were to be treated as kin( or kinfolk), as we are part of the same species-family( or something along those lines). The term “humankind”, interestingly, seems now to evoke now the opposite. “Humanity”, for example, could mean the property of being humane. Thusly, by the invention of a “new” word, several birds are murdered in one foul swoop. Dastardly, Ah says, dastardly!

As for these verses from the play “Hamlet” by Shakespeare, I can translate them here and now into Macedonian and even into Serbian language. And that with strong use of a grammatical-comparative translation. But since the use of the Cyrillic alphabet is prohibited here, and with all due respect to that I will leave you deprived of it,for my hand is forced by that rule here to do so.But remain convinced and reasured that we, who speak these and other Slavic languages, enjoy Shakespeare’s poetry as deeply as you,and some more.
Maybe even better and more than you who are in English speaking areas.
I apologize in advance for being honest, blunt, and straight-faced about this, but this interpretation of Shakespeare’s lyrics with an idea or imagination of how it would look translated in Slavic languages, and then all of it re-converted into English is simply cynical mockery in the sense and assumed as factual that these Slavic languages are impotent and expressively deficient to present and interpret Shakespeare correctly.
And by the way it is Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik, not Sovietski Soyuz Socialistichestnik Respubliki.

In other words, you don’t even have a sense of humor either, and because of that, continue to miss my point, which is that the Ukraine gets to tell us how to use our own language, and we do not get the same benefit (ala mistransliterating the Soviet Union’s name)? And yes, thank you for noticing, because you just made my point.

Good observation , totally missed the fact he own a cabin in Maine.
Yes, Dr. Farrell said he saw the speech a few weeks ago so the shooter was after that. (How handy.) We are back to another possible Las Vegas scenario where the number of victims might just be over-reported. The dead “perpetrator”- yeah. They murdered that guy.

Same thing happened in French media. It’s always been " L’ Ukraine " and it turned into “En Ukraine” I tho it was nit-picking at first. Until you notice who are correcting who.
It’s part of the Soros color revolution strategy. It’s word magic / spells. Conjuring the oppress / oppressor reality. Creating a new country out of an old one without changing anything at all.
Cultural warfare at it’s best.
